Minimum BPC Plumbing Insurance Requirements

To hold or renew a VIC plumbing licence, the BPC requires proof of BPC Plumbing Insurance including:

• $5 million Public Liability – third-party injury & property damage.
• $50,000 Warranty/Completed Work Insurance – for domestic work requiring a compliance certificate.
• $100,000 Warranty/Completed Work Insurance – for non-domestic/commercial plumbing work.
• Six-year cover – must be maintained for 6 years after the work is completed.

Also covered: eligible works where there is no requirement for a compliance certificate — so you’re still protected.

The BPC verifies your insurance before issuing or renewing a licence. You must upload proof annually via the BPC portal.
